The Mala was originally created in India over 3000 years ago and has roots in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Yoga. Mala is a Sanskrit term meaning "meditation garland." The Mala is a string of 108 beads. The 109th bead is called a guru bead and symbolizes gratitude and connection to the divine. Originally, malas were used for a style of meditation known as Japa, which means "to recite."

Yogini, Healer, Gypsy, Adventurer, & Creator. Ray Ilyse is a Southern California based creative soul who believes that blending love with connection creates magic. Life has taken Ray on a journey of self discovery and cultivated a desire to deepen her knowledge about the Shakti power. She loves to travel and get lost in foreign countries. Originally introduced to yoga in 2002, her yoga journey didn’t begin until 2009 while living in Los Angeles. Soon after a life renewing adventure in Bali, Ray decided to deepen her practice and obtained a 500RYT Yoga Alliance certification through Cloud Nine Yoga. With her background in dance, she combine fluidity, grounding, and deep connection into my classes. It is Ray’s hope to form authentic connections with fellow Yogis as we learn from each other in this gift of life.
