Mysore Style Starter Kit with Laura Josephy

Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Style is for everyone: all ages, all bodies, all levels!  All that is required is a willingness to keep showing up throughout the process of establishing a new routine.  Typically once a student has about ten classes under their belt they begin to experience ease and fluidity in their new mind-body practice.  The Mysore Style Starter Kit will get you started on the right path with a 2 hour Introduction to Mysore Style Workshop, a 1-Month Mysore Unlimited membership and a Sun Salutation Chart.  The Workshop will introduce how the Mysore Style differs from other styles of yoga, the techniques used to focus attention inward, basic yoga philosophy and the practice of Sun Salutation.  The 1-Month Mysore Unlimited membership gives participants the freedom to attend any of the Shala’s six weekly Mysore Style classes in order to grow and refine their awareness of both the body and the breath using the Ashtanga Primary Series as the template.

Laura came to Yoga after 15 years of disciplined gymnastic training. In 2003, after completing her initial 200 hours of training with Pacific Yoga, she took her strong foundation in alignment principals and applied it to various styles of vinyasa yoga including Ashtanga, Tripsichore and Universal. In 2008 she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the Ashtanga Yoga method under the guidance of Seattle based teacher, Troy Lucero. In 2012 she deepened her practice at Richard Freeman's 200-hour Teacher Intensive. In 2014-2018 she completed an additional 200+ hours of study with Tim Miller in his Primary, Intermediate and Advanced Series Trainings. In 2016 she made her first pilgrimage to Mysore, India to practice with Saraswathi Jois. In 2019 the Shala became a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School and hosted its inaugural 200-hour RYT Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series Teacher Training with Laura as one of its lead teachers. Complementing her strong vinyasa background is Laura's Level 1 and Level 2 iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher Training with Richard Miller. When outside the Shala, Laura enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and three Australian Shepherds, experimenting in the kitchen, chanting and playing the harmonium.
